 Ray McGill, CPP, Senior Security Consultant with Care Security Systems recently completed an intensive three day training course by the Department of Homeland Security entitled, "Surveillance Detection Course for Commercial Operators". This course is provides guidelines for mitigating risks to critical infrastructure by developing, applying, and employing surveillance detection measures through a surveillance detection plan.. Protective measures to detect and deter potential threats to critical infrastructure and key resources were taught as well as the fundamentals for detecting illicit terrorist surveillance activity.
Mr. McGill participated in class room and field exercises during the course of this training. Focus was put on protection of potential terrorist attacks at locations such as malls, places of worship and other public gathering areas.
The course was broken down into several learning modules:

Facility vulnerability assessments

Developing counter terrorist surveillance techniques

Field exercises
-
Developing plans to protect critical infrastructure and key resources.
The course increases awareness of terrorist tactics and attack history and illustrates the means and methods used to detect terrorist surveillance of so-called "soft" targets where there are large gathering of people with little or inadequate security measures.
Mr. McGill, a Board Certified Protection Professional (CPP) is qualified to assess your facility to determine the security weaknesses and develop a plan to mitigate these weaknesses.
